School Uniform

At Wootton St Andrew’s CE Primary School, we believe that school uniform helps to create a sense of belonging and pride within our school community. Wearing a smart, practical uniform encourages children to feel part of our school family, promotes equality and allows everyone to focus on learning.

  • White polo shirt or white shirt/blouse
  • Black or grey school trousers
  • Black or grey school shorts

  • Blue and yellow gingham summer dress (optional during warmer months)

Affordable Uniform

We recognise the importance of keeping school uniform affordable for families.
Whilst branded sweatshirts and cardigans are available, non-branded items are absolutely welcome and can be purchased from most major supermarkets and clothing retailers. We only ask that clothing matches our school colours and uniform expectations.

Jewellery, Hair and Appearance

To help keep all children safe and ready to learn, we ask families to support the following expectations:

  • Long hair should be tied back during the school day.
  • Hair accessories should be simple and in school colours wherever possible.
  • Jewellery should not be worn to school. If ears are pierced, children may wear one small pair of plain stud earrings only.
  • Earrings must be removed or covered (where appropriate) for PE lessons to ensure children’s safety.
  • Nail varnish, false nails, gel nails and make-up should not be worn to school.
  • Hairstyles should be suitable for school and should not include extreme styles, patterns or brightly coloured hair.
These expectations help to ensure that children can take part safely in all aspects of school life whilst maintaining a smart appearance.

Labelling of Uniform

Pre-Loved Uniform

Please ensure that every item of clothing, footwear and PE kit is clearly named.

This helps us return lost property to its owner quickly and reduces the amount of unnamed clothing left in school.

We are proud to support families by offering a selection of good-quality pre-loved uniform whenever available.

Please contact the school office if you would like to donate uniform or enquire about available items.

Questions?

If you have any questions about school uniform or require support in obtaining uniform, please contact the school office.

We are always happy to help.

Bishop’s Ready to School Fund

We believe that every child should spend during their school journey feeling confident, included and ready to learn.

Through the generous support of the Bishop’s Ready to School Fund, families at Wootton School may be eligible to receive assistance with purchasing essential school uniform items. The fund aims to ensure that every child has access to the clothing they need to take part in day-to-day school life with confidence, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.

We understand that families can sometimes experience unexpected financial difficulties. If you are facing hardship and are worried about the cost of school uniform, please speak to the Headteacher in complete confidence. We will always do our best to offer support, signpost families to available funding and work together to ensure that every child has what they need to thrive at school. All conversations will be handled sensitively, respectfully and in strict confidence.
