Our Christian Vision
Rooted in the Wootton Way – journeying together in the light of Love, Joy, Courage and Trust.
Together we learn and shine as we discover new things and become the best we can be. With our families, church and community, we make our school a safe, happy and caring place where everyone is valued. Inspired by St Andrew, we strive to be a light for others, demonstrating kindness, resilience, bravery and hope, and helping to make the world a brighter place.
Our Christian vision is at the very heart of Wootton St Andrew’s CE Primary School. It shapes who we are, influences every decision we make and underpins the experiences we provide for our children. It is more than a statement on a wall—it is the foundation of our school community and the lens through which we educate, nurture and inspire every child.
Our Journey
Our Christian vision is woven through every aspect of school life.
It shapes our curriculum, collective worship, relationships, behaviour, decision-making and the opportunities we provide for children to flourish. It influences how we celebrate success, support one another through challenges and encourage every child to recognise the unique gifts that God has given them.
When our vision was first developed, it was centred around the values of Love, Joy and Trust. Whilst these values remained important to our school community, it became clear during the autumn term of 2026 that our vision should more closely reflect our school’s identity as Wootton St Andrew’s Church of England Primary School and the example set by our patron saint.
Working in partnership with pupils, staff, governors, parents, the Diocese and St Andrew’s Church, we revisited our vision and explored what truly defines life at Wootton.
Through discussion, reflection and prayer, four Christian values emerged that captured both our school’s heritage and our aspirations for the future:
- Love
- Joy
- Courage
- Trust
Together these values tell the story of our school, inspire our daily actions and reflect the qualities shown by St Andrew throughout his life of faith and service.
Bringing Our Vision to Life
Developing our vision was about far more than changing words.
Our children and wider school community worked together to explore how our vision could be represented visually. We considered Christian symbolism, the story of St Andrew and imagery that reflected our school family before creating a new school badge that proudly represents our shared identity and values.
Our Christian vision was formally launched during a special St Andrew’s Day Service, held at St Andrew’s Church. This was a significant moment in the life of our school, bringing together children, families, governors, church members and the wider community to celebrate the next chapter in Wootton’s journey.
One particularly special part of the celebration was recreating a historic photograph taken outside the church in 1989. Among those featured at the front of the original photograph was Mrs Mager, who attended Wootton as a child and is now a valued member of our staff. Recreating this photograph beautifully symbolised the enduring connection between our school, our church and our community across generations.
Recognised by the Diocese
Our Christian vision has also been recognised by the Lincoln Diocesan Board of Education (LDBE) as an example of effective vision development within a Church school.
In January 2026, Wootton St Andrew’s CE Primary School featured in the LDBE newsletter, celebrating the collaborative journey undertaken by our school community to develop a Christian vision that is deeply rooted in theology and reflects the unique identity of our school.
Writing about our work, Canon Paul Thompson, Diocesan Director of Education, said:
“The best church schools have very clear vision statements rooted in theology, tailored to the community and there is ‘buy-in’ from everyone.”
Our school’s journey was highlighted as an example of these principles in action.
As a school community, we continue to be rooted in the Wootton Way, journeying together in the light of Love, Joy, Courage and Trust, inspiring every child to let their light shine and make a positive difference in the world.
